These colorful baskets are made using artists’ watercolor paper. I paint both sides then cut the paper into strips using a pasta machine. I get strips in fettucinni, linguini, or angel hair widths. I use a traditional Shaker-style wooden mold to weave the strips into baskets. When complete, each basket gets a coat or two of lacquer for stiffening and protection. Baskets range in size from about 1″ – 12″ inside diameter and 1″-18″ tall.
I do sell these at the Foothills Craft Guild show each November and may carry them in my Etsy shop in the future.
